Research Interest
Einstein left the university in 1900 with a diploma as a teacher of mathematics and physics. His applications for assistantships at the Polytechnic and other universities, but were refused. He then was hired as a private tutor in Winterthur, Schaffhausen and finally in Bern. 1901 his application for Swiss citizenship was granted. On 16 June 1902, Einstein received, on the recommendation of his friend Marcel Grossmann, finally a permanent position: as a technical expert third Class at the Swiss patent office in Bern.
