Abstract
CERIF (the Common European Research Information Format) is a formal conceptualmodel to support the management of Research Information, including the set up ofand the interoperation between Research Information Systems. Research Informationis information about research entities such as people, projects, organisations, publications, patents, products, funding, or equipment, etc. and the relationshipsbetween them. Information Systems allow to structure, store, maintain, exchange, access, disseminate or assess the information they contain. We consider CERIF; itsentities, their rich and flexible relationship management, the xml interchange format, and the CERIF Semantics a very powerful instrument for setting up scalable andquality-oriented information systems. The CERIF 1.3 release upgrades the modeltowards measurement extensions, elaborated on infrastructure entities and semantics, and includes geographic bounding box. This document provides a detailed descriptionof the range and structure of the entire CERIF model - version 1.3.
